Lone parent run-on was an extra two weeks of income support which could be claimed by some lone parents who started work. It has now been abolished. However, a lone parent may now be able to get a job grant instead.
A job grant is paid to people aged 25 or over who come off benefit and start work. From 25 October, people who have been getting income support, jobseeker's allowance, severe disablement allowance or incapacity benefit for six months or more may be able to get a job grant if they start work of 16 hours a week or more.
A job grant is £100, or £250 for lone parents and couples with children.
