Some fees for applications for further leave to remain and applications for variations of leave to enter or remain changed on 17 December. From that date, there is no charge for a child who is provided with assistance, accommodation or maintenance by a local authority. There is also no charge for people whose claims for asylum were refused while they were under 18, but who were granted leave outside the rules and are now seeking further leave outside the rules.
The statutory forms currently being issued indicate that everyone has to pay a fee. More information is available via the Immigration and Nationalilty Directorate website.
