Court fees increase

A number of court fee increases come into effect on 4 January. For example,

• starting a divorce case now costs £210 instead of £180.
• The fee for bankruptcy is now £150 rather than £140.
• The fees for money claims of up to £50,000 stay the same, but increase sharply after that - to claim £300,000 or more will cost you £1,700

However, there is at least one reduction - to apply for probate costs £90 instead of £130.
