Recourse to public funds

24 March 2005

Many months after the introduction of working tax credit (WTC), child tax credit (CTC) and pension credit, the immigration rules have been amended to include them as recourse to public funds. Carer's allowance has also been included.

People with passport stamps or stickers which prevent them from claiming public funds will now be in breach of this condition if they claim these benefits. However, a person subject to this condition who is the spouse or partner of a person who is entitled to claim WTC and CTC can be included in that person's claim.
