From 1 April 2005, in England and Scotland, prescription charges increased to £6.50 for a single item, £33.90 for a four months pre-payment certificate and £93.20 for a 12 month one. The value of optical vouchers and the maximum charge for one course of dental treatment increases.
In Wales, prescription charges go down to £4.00. Pre-payment certificates go down to £57.46 for an annual one and £20.93 for a four monthly one. People under 25 will not pay for drugs, wigs or appliances and people aged 60 or over will not pay for wigs or appliances.
